Middle School Rowing

SRA is pleased to offer programs for middle school athletes of all ages. For 7th and 8th-grade athletes, our Modified Junior Competitive Program introduces athletes to the fundamentals of rowing and racing. For 4th through 6th grade athletes, Sculling Camp introduces athletes to rowing in a fun camp environment during the fall, spring, and summer seasons.

Mods Program

Mods is for any athlete interested in rowing in 7th and 8th grade with seasons offered in the Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer! The focus of this program is to introduce athletes to the sport of rowing and build a strong foundational skill set for training and racing that can be built off of as athletes move to the High School Competitive Program.

Sculling Camp

SRA is pleased to offer youth sculling camps to children ages 9-13.  These camps include 15 hours of instruction both on and off the water.  The goal of the camps is to introduce the sport of rowing, in particular, "sculling" (rowing with 2 oars) in a fun camp-style atmosphere.  These camps are limited to 10 athletes at a time in order to provide individual attention.

The athletes progress from "coxed quads" (4 rowers and a coxswain) to doubles, and recreational singles and finally racing singles (as seen below).
